Thanks everyone, much appreciated. I keep hearing how I'm just about a quarter of the way to 100, which I must say is an innovative way to make me feel old! As for presents, I got signed up for the Univeristy of Arizona's web course (http://consciousness.arizona.edu/webcourse.htm) on consciousness this summer to help me brush up on my knowledge. Yes, I actually asked to sign up for a course for my birthday-- another sure sign that I'm getting old! :surprised

You're half my age, you toad! Do you need me to help you up the stairs?

You bet I do; you have no idea how much energy it takes my little toad legs to hop from step to step!
I was just being facetious about getting old, but on the other hand it really doesn't seem all that long ago that I was an 18 year old in high school. By comparison, I vividly recall that 3rd grade seemed to last for an eternity. Someone needs to write down an equation for the acceleration of the passage of subjective time as a function of age.
Happy Birthday hypnagogue!
Perhaps age is all in the mind....

I think that it's just a straight logarithmic scale, like decibels. (It feels more like a cube-power though.) :grumpy:

That's an easy one. Every year is a smaller ratio of the entirity of ones life. For example, if I am one year old and wait until my second birthday then I have spent half my life waiting. That is a long time. If I am 9 and wait 1 year then I have only waited 1/10th of my life. That seems like a much shorter time. Danger can probably hold his breath from one birthday to the next, or at least it feels like it at the speed they seem to pass him by.
Anyway,
Happy Birthday Hypnagogue!!!!!!!

It's not a party without an albino alligator and dancing penguins and a little lost turtle. I couldn't find any badgers, but maybe beavers will do?

I just had 2 of the damned things last week, and I think that there's one scheduled for Friday. :grumpy:
I'm getting sick of them.
