Hi, The teleporter conundrum is described in an earlier thread above.

I think if it had a more contemporary setting, or maybe ancient Greek, it'd get more consideration. Many I've spoke to about it immediately put up a barrier due to the impossible sci-fi setting.
- but Searle's room & Socrates' Cave are equally impossible, yet philosophically useful.

Does anyone know who first came up with the Teleporter conundrum.
(A person is teleported by creating an exact replica, down to the spin on each electron, on another planet, while simultaneously destroying the original. To other people the clone is still you, the clone itself thinks its you, but is it? or was the original self killed by the transmitter)
