Me? I generally find myself feeling mild animosity towards most of them. With a few exceptions.
what exceptions ?
I personally find them to be a bit more of Asian style in some ways, with a few exceptions, those who live near the Can-US border.
What does Asian-style mean?
why can:t you just answer my question to you first ?
Ok, It means 20% of their lifestyle and especially ways they behave and talk is just similar to those of Asian people, am I wrong ?
Are Chinese really that good in Canada and the US ? I doubt really much about this.

This is opening up a can of whoopass... but it makes for good discussion. I don't think being canadian has that much to do with it except for the fact that perhaps alot of the topics that get discussed are American oriented and Canadians (who, no matter how closely related, are not part of the american system or specific way of life) will not be able to have more than an outsiders :) perspective. Therefore a lot of misunderstanding and oversimplified speak (cuz this is the Internet) will cause some emotions in some and thus the feeling of anamosity. I am new here, but I find that quite a few debates go off topic and become debates over individual credibility and it's very disappointing.

yes, I can see that.... so my point is that - you don't know what it really means to be american, and therefore you will not be able to fully assess something from the outside looking in.

I got a misunderstanding for ya. What does this have to do with liking Canadians? Sure SOME Canadians will come in and act like they know more about America then Americans do... but why would that make you feel bad or good about em. Sure it can be considered a "trait"... but theres so many other traits that tell you more about what kind of person it is your talking to. Grammar nazis piss me off to a whole new level compared to Canadians. Plus of course theres the trait where people can turn any simple or humorous topic into a political thread. Boy do they ruin the day...*cough* Art *cough*.
And of course, why are we judging people based on where they live? Surely a few peoples mannerisms don't reflect an entire nation? Just because a few Brits think their breakfast and oddly named jams are the reason they are the greatest empire in history doesnt mean everyone thinks that way or acts that way. Just because a few French think they are one step above the evolutionary ladder then us "humans" doesn't mean everyone thinks that way. Just because a few Australians like basically any band that will go on Carson Daily's show doesnt mean their entire country is full of braindead slobs.... although lately ive had my doubts :tongue2:
So lets all come together, tear down the walls of race and ethnicity and unite as the human race on this great planet earth and let us forever criticize Australia's taste in music.
I really enjoy my Canidian friends here.

That's exactly what I mean about the Canadians on this forum being condescending (note: I didn't say Canadians, nor am I making any comment on the country itself, just the posters here). You, and plenty of others, do your best to take shots at the US every chance you get, proclaiming your superiority. That's pretty damn near the textbook definition of condescension. I didn't get the time line, but it must have been. I can't see any other reason they weren't dumped someplace else. But we don't get that much Canadian history in the US (they would have had to admit Benedict Arnold was a very good general before he turned traitor if they did). The folks I know from Louisiana have to learn it to know about the Cajun origins. I can't say I'd complain much being "dragged" from someplace where the river freezes 8 feet deep in the winter to someplace that's warm and sunny all year around. What is the American stereotype? Being from California and especially from Los Angeles, we tend to stereotype and look down on the rest of the US. I have to wonder if foreigners just group us with everyone else. There's such a huge difference between San Francisco and Little Rock, or Portland and Gainesville, I have to wonder how someone could stereotype the entire US.
Then again, maybe there's just as big a difference between Vancouver and Halifax. It's not like I know anything about either place aside from the physical geography.

Yah its pretty hard to stereotype an American since most stereotypes mean a majority of the people are applicable to it. With this in mind, what in gods name is an American. White? black? asian? We have education ranging from some of the greatest universities on this planet all the way down to American Idol. We eat anything that grows or can be made anywhere. We experience every type of weather... we play every stupid sport we can find out about.... the list goes on

Yep, you're right, that one works. :grumpy:  I'll get Evo, MIH and Tsu to round up the Supersonic RV and check the ammo is fully stocked before we head down to FL. Where's SOS, she seems to be MIA lately. (Hey, I seem to need a 3-letter nickname!) Oh, wait, hmm...I think we're going to wait until summer is over and it's not so hot down there, and we should wait until hurricane season passes, and we should plan a trip to Disney with Zz while there...so, I think we'll keep you on your toes and watching your back a bit longer. That's okay, the rest of us stereotype and look down on those from L.A. as being a bunch of bleach-blonde, dark-tanned, beach-bum, bleeding heart liberal, ditzy airheads from LA LA land.
You know, we really revel in that image. Who needs to be intellectually substantial when you can be beautiful, wealthy, and spend all your time at the beach or cruising down the boulevard?
It's funny, though. Even within Los Angeles, you can't really stereotype everyone. The westsiders and south Orange County folk are the rich beach-bums. The eastsiders are hard-working Hispanics. The south bay is largely Boyz n the Hood style thugs, and the valleys are suburban havens for everyone. West Hollywood is the homosexual capital of the world (even has a pink city hall) and Malibu the natural disaster capital.

Great post! Especially hockey lovin whiter than chalk outdoorsmen part... I think you are referring to RED GREEN a canadian comedian... similar to TOM GREEN minus the outdoorsmen part.
Vancouver is nothing like that... there is a place called Richmond that is virtually populated by all Chinese...
I think your LA comparison is valid.... therefore the stereotypes created with each interaction...

In 1921, King George V proclaimed the official colours of Canada as red, from the Saint George's Cross, and white, from the French royal emblem since King Charles VII.
As early as 1700, the maple leaf began to serve as a symbol celebrating Canada's nature and environment.

That's cuz the liberals chose it.
In one of the classrooms at my school there is a poster that has all the top proposed canadian flags....some of them were so much cooler than the leaf.
Now adding to the war....Americans don't know how to spell "colour".
hehe, actually when I am browsing around PF I don't even notice where people are from most of the time, I read people's posts and to me it's as if rather than having nationalities, we all just have the fact that we all live on the same planet. Well, until this thread, cuz in this thread it surely doesn't seem that way. I find it kind of stupid that people steryotype others due to nationality,
I'm in Canada and I hear canadians all the time steryotyping Americans (mostly negatively) and i always stand up for the Americans because in many cases, the Canadians (in these cases not all Canadians) are wrong to judge people a certain way before even knowing them. My history teacher last year was very anti-american, (and very leftist) and i couldn't stand listening to her cuz it made her sound like such a retard making such large generalizations. (and cuz i'm right wing so I never agreed with her in the first place)
For example, we took a trip to NYC and at the border she was following the US border guy down the isle of the coach and trying to do what she thought was 'help him do his job' so he told her to shut up and go sit down. (HILARIOUS if you were there and knew my teacher...I could see her trying to avoid hitting him over the back of the head...thank god she didn't). So anyway, afterwards she went on about how americans are so rude and impolite etc...after one american example. I felt like saying there are people from every country like that not just the US and also just because he was like that doesn't mean all americans are.
So basically I think i'm saying that (this is gonna be lame) "you can't judge a book by its' cover".
