SUMMARY

The forum discussion centers on verifying the sizes of specific human pituitary proteins, including the Glycoprotein hormones alpha chain, Variant hepatic nuclear factor 1, Human B-actin, and Folate receptor alpha. The active form of the Glycoprotein hormones alpha chain is identified as 6079 Da, while the Variant hepatic nuclear factor 1 is confirmed to be 166 amino acids. The Human B-actin is noted to be 41737 Da, and the Folate receptor alpha is confirmed as 96 amino acids. Users are encouraged to consult PubMed and utilize tools from ExPASy for accurate molecular weight predictions and post-translational modifications.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of protein molecular weights and amino acid sequences
  • Familiarity with PubMed for literature searches
  • Knowledge of bioinformatics tools, specifically ExPASy
  • Basic comprehension of post-translational modifications
NEXT STEPS
  • Research "Glycoprotein hormone alpha human" on PubMed for detailed studies
  • Utilize ExPASy tools for predicting molecular weights and modifications
  • Explore literature on Variant hepatic nuclear factor 1 for functional insights
  • Investigate the role of Human B-actin in cellular processes
USEFUL FOR

Researchers, biochemists, and bioinformaticians involved in protein analysis and molecular biology, particularly those focused on human pituitary proteins and their characteristics.

Can anyone please help me to find the sizes (Da) for these human pituitary proteins? i have looked for them in Entrez and other bioinformatic sites, but am really not sure if they are right. Please, recheck them for me. Thanks a bunch!

1. Glycoprotein hormones alpha chain

i have a vERY hard time with this one. from the Entrez result i only get
Glycoprotein hormones alpha chain precursor form (13041 Da). i need an active form. What is the size?

2. Variant hepatic nuclear factor 1
From entrez i got an active form of 166aa. Is this correct?

3. Human B-actin
active form: 41737 Da. Correct?

4. Folate receptor alpha
active form: 96 aa. Correct?

Thanks ! o:)
