Einstein’s research works are final outcomes of hard work of many other people (Click here for details) (http://lorentz.phl.jhu.edu/AnnusMirabilis/AeReserveArticles/ed_str.pdf). For example if Michelson-Morley and others have not done their experiments nobody would have known that the speed light is same in all directions. Motivation for such an experiment is sparked by the continuous hard work of the community of intelligent researchers trying to address some interesting questions . This community keeps producing all the pieces needed to solve a puzzle. Finally some one comes along and puts them all together. We call him the Einstein. Faster this community builds the pieces higher the potential for an Einstein to arise. The strength and the performance of this community really depend on the university system and the government who funds them and regulates them... There are new Einsteins. It's just that they are solving smaller pieces of the puzzle
than Einstein did.

The "next Einstein" as you put it will probably be the person who comes up with a really
sound explanation for the workings of space and time at the Planck level (very tiny, very brief)
and/or explains the physical mechanism of quantum superposition. This is the only
real mystery in Quantum Mechanics and the person who explains it will most assuredly
be as big a Rock Star as Einstein was.
