Quite a while back I had a brief interest in wheather the Laplace transform made numerical sense. I was interested in this for its own sake:

Laplace Transform Convergence
Laplace Transform (Numeric Computation?)

and because if we could numericaly understand the Laplace transform it might tell us more about a dynamic system then a fourier transform.

using the fft to calculate the laplace transform

Memory of my failures in obtaining...

Image: Interference pattern from slits in black aluminium foil.

A couple of months ago I did a number of double-slit experiments at home. I've noticed there are quite a few people who are interested in trying this experiment, so I decided to write a short guide on how to do it. Here it is.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

What is the double-slit experiment?...

Study on Vertical Bearing Capacity of Steel Pipe Pile Driven into Mudstone

Posted Jul13-12 at 09:25 PM by steelpipes

The mudstone layer has been often observed under subsurface ground around Yokohama port. SPT-N value of the layer is larger than 50, and undrained shear strength of the mudstone is greater than 500kN/m2. This mudstone layer has been often selected as a support layer of foundation piles of port facilities. Mudstone could be thought to be a kind of heavily overconsolidated clay, and the tendency of volume change under shearing and the reconsolidation behavior after disturbance would be different from...

Astronomy and astrophysics for profession

Posted Jul10-12 at 04:25 PM by kapella

Hello everyone!
At first thank you for taking part in this discussion!
All my life I really enjoyed reading books about physics and astronomy and to observe physical phenomena around me...So i grew up and my dream is to take part in the science of my century. And every day i open for me something new in this side of knowledge, but there is one problem in choosing astronomy or astrophysics like profession. My dad and all big part of people around me say there are not so much vacancies...
