Indeed - for eg Balmer Alpha transition in Hydrogen:
## ΔE = hΔf = μc^2\left(\sqrt{1-{\left(\frac{α}{3}\right)}^2}-\sqrt{1-{\left(\frac{α}{2}\right)}^2}\right)=3.0259670 E-19 J##
I interpret this as pretty much a direct subtraction of electron's 'wave energy' in level 2 from same in level 3 (higher).
