There are many different formats for research papers. Why don't you start with googling "LaTeX template" and see what you like?
For example, this is the template that science uses: http://www.sciencemag.org/site/featu...lp/index.xhtml

If you want, I can send you some templates that I always use.

In any case, this list of symbols will be VERY helpful to you: http://www.math.boun.edu.tr/instruct...symbols-a4.pdf It will give you a list of all commonly used symbols and the package you need for it.

Interesting questions. I don't really consider such questions to be philosophy... You should talk to Ryan_m_b, he is extremely knowledgeable on this subject and could possible refer you to good sources.
Maybe you could make a thread in biology about it?? I'd be interested in it as well

    Enjoy the books!!

No, I have not read Godel, Escher, Bach. I don't like to read pop-sci books, it's a poor substitute for the real good stuff
I did hear many good things about the books. So, I bet you'll enjoy it.

Want me to write you a primer on the subject?? I could include some basic tricks to solve easy Diophantine equations...

I've been pretty busy this week! On Thursday, Friday and today I had to get up at 6:30 and take the subway down to the University of Toronto where I competed in UTMUN (University of Toronto Model United Nations) competitions. Despite the tiresome journey it was a lot of fun and the campus was beautiful. Anyways I have a day to rest before I head back down to Toronto for 2 days for more competitions so I thought I'd spend some time writing this weeks segments of my blog!
