Membrane hollow fibers

i'm working on a project for my nano sensors class. i wanted to know what's the smallest hollow fiber that can be made? because i would like to propose the idea of using it as the pre concentrating "box" for my sensor. Moreover, can you please suggest a polymeric or inorganic membrane for the fiber that can attract mercury in an aqueous solution?
