Dear friends,
What are de principal differences between sound and light waves?
What are de principal differences between sound and light waves?
The discussion revolves around the differences between sound waves and light waves, focusing on their properties, behaviors, and the mediums through which they propagate.
Some participants have provided insights into the nature of electromagnetic waves and suggested resources for further reading. There is an ongoing exploration of the characteristics of sound and light waves, with various interpretations being discussed without a clear consensus.
Participants are encouraged to refer to specific texts for deeper understanding, indicating a reliance on external resources to clarify concepts. The discussion reflects a mix of established knowledge and personal interpretations, with some assumptions about wave behavior being questioned.

We call these waves longitudinal (like the sound waves) and transversal (like the em.waves).I'm sure an optics book will cover em waves and their polarization.
I'm sure a continuous media book will cover elastic/mechanical waves. So my advice is to go to the library.
Daniel.
