There is a question I have asked fellow physics
people in the world about ether. Then I thought,
lets ask physics people, makes sense.

Have you ever heard ether refered to as a shmoo?

Its hard to pick a favorite physics experiment,
but this one was a failure and it ushered in the era
of modern physics. Hard to pick a more influential
one.

Anyway, shmoo is what my physics teacher came
up with to demonstrate what ether was to physics
people at the time of the MM experiment. I am curious
if this is a device local to my professor, or its something
more common in the discipline.
