Composite electric glass heating elements

I'm designing a 2 or 3 pane window for my senior project with the interior pane also being a heating element. I keep reading that these composite plexiglass radiators can be made to only radiate heat in a single direction, and that would help my efficiency a lot but I cant find how they do this or an equation to model it. Can anyone explain this or show me where I can read more about it
