Basic Equations of 1-D Kinematics

General:

average velocity:
[tex]v_{ave} = \Delta x / \Delta t[/tex]

average acceleration:
[tex]a_{ave} = \Delta v / \Delta t[/tex]

Uniform Acceleration:

[tex]v_{ave} = (v_i + v_f)/2[/tex]

Three key variables (displacement, time, velocity) lead to three key relationships relating each pair:

velocity & time:
[tex]v = v_0 + a t[/tex]

displacement & time:
[tex]x = x_0 + v_0 t + (1/2) a t^2[/tex]

velocity & displacement:
[tex]v^2 = v_0^2 + 2 a \Delta x[/tex]
