Matlab and arrays

Hello,

I am new to Matlab, and Im having trouble with some basic programming

I am trying to create an array (lets call it S) that has certain statuses (for now lets say it has 3 statuses). then

for i=1:10

I am trying to read the status, determine with some other logic if I need to change to statuses to another number and accordingly update it. Not just that but then I want to expand the array. so for now I have 3 numbers in the array, but want to expand it to 10 numbers....

any ideas/ examples on how to do that?
