Transfer machanism via conduction

How does the rate of conduction through a composite slab differs from:
1- Being next to each others?
2- Being side to side?
I know that when they are next to each others, Pcond= (A(T hot-T cold))/(sum[L/K]).
what will be the rate of conduction in the other way (2)?
Thanks for helping..
