Noether's Theorem

Hi,
Noether's theorem states that every continuous symmetry indicates a conserved quantity, and vice versa.
My question: What are the minimal assumptions (axioms) needed in order to prove Noether's theorem? for example, which of Newton's laws are necessary? are there any weaker axioms which we can base the theotrem on?

Thanks,
Lior
