Designing an engine and drive system for a well winch

[b]1. Farmers take about 5 mins to lift a 4 gallon bucket of water from a well. They desire to achieve at least a ten minute time increase in the speed at which they can retrieve water from the well. Design a 2 stroke gas engine and transmission system for the winch. The winch itself is assumed to be known an the output of the design drive system will interface with the existing winch. Include determination of customer needs, background and benchmarking and determination of engineering specifications. Also include concepts for delivering the required power to the remainder of the winch. A minimum of 2 alternatives are required. Detailed engineering calculations must also be done.



[b]2. Wells in the region can vary from about 100m to 150m. The well winch must be portable, no more than 20lbs and an enclosed volume of less than 0.25mx0.25mx0.25m.
