Granular filters- collection efficiency

Hi to all,

Got a problem , im trying to calculate collection efficiency for a granular bed filter, where single efficiency collector, E=b/a^2

a =cross sectional of the collector
b- distance limit trajectory

the pic shows the distance b from the OX axis.

does anyone knows how to find that distance.? (b)

Or if you know another way to find the collection efficiency of such filters.

Thanks for your views
