Hexagonal Bar Splitting

Hi,
I am a student.
I have a Failure Analysis Assignment (attached).

After doing some quick research & reading, I suspect it should be a "DUCTILE FRACTURE" due to "PLANE STRAIN ROLLING".
Any advice on the subject (Suspected failure type, required tests to prove the failure path... will be most appreciated.
