Laser Ablation ns-regime

I am just curious if it is possible to reduce the plasma shielding effect during ns laser ablation on metals by applying an electric field across the sample, and if so, how strong the field needs to be.

Also, any experiments or papers you know.. i searched but could not find the right keywords..

Unfortunatly the cloud is nearl neutral charge so an electric field will move the stuff around it will not clear it. A simple water spray does a nice job though.
