Is there a way to grant myself a banning privilege for family meetings?

After two hours of listening I am literally sick. At PF these people would get banned during registration process.

I've been sick three times this season too. Blah. Hopefully that was the last of it for at least a couple months.

I refused to get a cell phone for years, but I have found them to be very practical. But it's just for phone calls (and text to my daughter), no smart phone for me, I have no need to walk around with a computer, I still have a life. not much, but some. I do not want any of the things people use smartphones for.
I do have a reason for getting a smart phone. I just don't look forward to all the work that's ahead of me. A journey of 1000 miles sometimes begins with Hello World...

Same here. As if I need another thing to distract me and kill more of my productivity.

I put a drawing aside 3 or 4 months ago, being burned out on it, and, for some reason, I seemed to have pretty much forgot it existed.

Last night something reminded me of it and I searched all over for it wondering how the hell something I'd spent so many hours on could evaporate from my consciousness like that.

Exhausted this morning. Not looking forward programming and math for a large majority of the day.

The person that makes our math club flyers is sick, so I have to do it. It's kind of scary. I'm not a flyer kinda guy.

I guess I'm in the other camp. I've found myself quite reliant on my smartphone. I don't quite even remember how humans could have survived without them.

For example, there's this issue:

Good calculators still cost an arm and a leg for reasons for which I can only speculate. But now with a smartphone, it's like getting a scientific, graphing calculator for free.

I use my HP calculator in a daily basis, and having one emulated on a smart phone has saved the day when I'm away from my desk.

And so much more too, like a cosmology calculator (actual use for this has not come up in my working career, but it's still nice to have when visiting the cosmology subforum on PF).

Letting you know when the next International Space Station (ISS) sighting is:

Or even automatically controlling the Jukebox at the local bar/pub, without leaving your seat. (Location permitting.)

I'm concerned about the smartphone zombie threat.
