Speaking of stupid, I got so involved counting out 16 cents in change to pay for a $2.16 purchase at 7-11 that, having accomplished it, I felt my work there was done and I left without collecting the $18.00 change that was due me.

The checker at the store informed me tonight that the real reason for the shooting back East, is that the govenment, and you know who in particular, is transmitting a secret signal using cell towers, to drive people to mass murder, so those evil liberals can take our guns away.

I do not care what President Obama or his wife wear, nor do I care about designer clothes, nor other superficial and superfluous factors. Stop wasting our time with such trivialities.

I do care about substantive news and factual information concerning matters that affect the general welfare of humanity.

It's tough to watch the decline and not get mad. Huffington Post, for instance used to be a pretty good news-aggregator, and it has fallen badly, daily featuring "stories" about Spears, Bieber, Kadashin(s), etc every day. If HuffPost (now owned by AOL) went back to the level of quality of coverage they had several years ago, maybe they wouldn't have to resort to running these "stories" to pay the bills.

And yes, it would be nice to see the media concentrate on factors affecting the human condition at home and abroad. We can say "every man is an island", but that is not a formula for doing the great things that we can do together.
