PF Random ThoughtsI would put my name in, too. But 1) I refuse to be celibate, 2) I'm atheist, and 3) I don't have testicles. Well #1 isn't a deal-breaker, probably #2 isn't either. |

So the Pope is resigning... first one to do that in 600 years apparently. 85 and too frail to look after 1 billion Catholics.

The steroids the doctor gave me don't seem to be doing much for my pernicious, persistent, several months long "cold."
But man, it did seem really easy to pedal my bike today! |

I just realized that the game hide-and-seek is very much like the zombie apocalypse.
(The version where if the person who is "it" tags somebody, they also become "it".) |

New cable modem/router combo is up and working!
I have the desktop wired to it (ethernet) to reduce latency variation (particularly when there's network traffic on the LAN). Other stuff are still using the WiFi though. Physics Forums (PF) ping times average 47 milliseconds. Google ping is 13 milliseconds on average. And since I no longer have to lease the cable modem from the cable company, the new setup will completely pay for itself in only 96735074184 milliseconds! ('still haven't got the printer working yet though.) |

I had put too many clothes in the wash machine two weekends ago, and three sets of pants, so worn out that I had to wear matching colored underwear, came out like confetti. I'm not allowed to wear confetti to work.

And I would provide you with a link to God's Facebook page, you silly unbeliever!, but he talks kind of dirty. I love him. He's funny, and has a nice smile. ![]() |

Finally watched the last episode of Numb3rs. Ok, not the most realistic show when it comes to mathematics, but it did partially inspire me to go back to school for math. It was definitely unique. There are no other shows like it. I will miss the characters.
I managed not to be an ubernerd and cry at Charles and Amitas wedding though.. -Dave K |

Maine has the most moronic governor ever. Paul LePage has proposed that if a student needs remedial courses to get into college, the school district needs to pay for them, since the public school system "failed" the student. Most rational people would reason that if the student wouldn't or couldn't do the class-work that would qualify them to attend college, the property-owners in the school district should not be penalized for that failure. Not LePage. He constantly rails against all public employees as lazy and corrupt, and he has a very special contempt for our public education system.

And now for sports. In basketball, my son made the cut for the upper level team although it made him the weakest player. This team consists of 10 players, deployed in 4 minute sessions of 5 players each against a far superior opposing team. The coach told the opposing players to step up the pressure and as a result, my son's team was way outclassed. None the less, my son gave his best effort and did a very good job in blocking, rebounding, and even got in a basket. Not only did he rise to the challenge, but for the first time since he started playing, he was smiling on the court. The opposing team quickly racked up an 18 to 2 score and it was starting to look like a rout. However, the special needs team found their groove and the final score was opposition 65, special needs 50. In other basketball news, Marquette, TCU, Old Dominion, and Grambling all lost.
