Discussion Overview

This thread aims to compile a directory of tutorials related to Advanced Physics, encompassing various topics beyond the standard calculus-based General Physics sequence. The scope includes contributions from different authors and institutions, covering areas such as Computational Physics, Astrophysics, Quantum Physics, and Methods of Mathematical Physics.

Discussion Character

  • Meta-discussion

Main Points Raised

  • Post 1 introduces the purpose of the thread as a means to organize tutorials for Advanced Physics courses.
  • Post 2 lists tutorials on Computational Physics authored by Dr. Donald Luttermoser, providing links to multiple resources and indicating that the series is under construction.
  • Post 3 presents tutorials on Astrophysics, also by Dr. Donald Luttermoser, with links to various resources and a note that this series is under construction as well.
  • Post 4 details tutorials on Quantum Physics, again authored by Dr. Donald Luttermoser, including links and a note about the series being complete with problem sets available.
  • Post 5 mentions a member-authored tutorial on Physical Systems with Variable Mass and Other Geometric Systems by arildno.
  • Post 6 outlines tutorials on Methods of Mathematical Physics I by Dr. Mark Trodden, providing links and a reference to the complete series available online.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants generally agree on the need for a centralized directory of Advanced Physics tutorials, but there is no explicit discussion of disagreements or competing views within the posts.

Contextual Notes

The thread is noted to be under construction for some series, indicating that additional content may be added over time. There are no specific limitations or unresolved issues mentioned.

This thread is here to organize the many tutorials we have for Advanced Physics, which we take to be any and all Physics Courses after the typical calculus based General Physics sequence.

This thread will grow as the number of tutorials grows.
