Oh, and how do you get those greeting cards to show up? Does one need to become a paid contributor to gain such powers?

You just have to use IMG tags (click "quote" on my post and you'll see how the tags are used...you have to find sites that don't block hotlinking like that though).

In any case:

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY LADIES!

Thanks.

Agreed. I'm a tad surprised at how many PF women are single and lonely(?) tonight. :frown:

I don't think it matters anyway. There's so much snow and ice on the ground that even if I had plans, they'd have to be cancelled.

Snuggled in front of a fire with champagne and strawberries time then and a good movie.

Happy VD, boys!

I got a beer gift basket for the PF guys...
http://www.beeronthewall.com/online-store/scstore/graphics/nuts-over-you-lg.jpg

Fresh, hard to find California microbrews (12oz bottles)
A box of assorted, luscious, sweet Chocolates or fine Confections & Candy (seasonal)
A nice big box of large, freshly roasted California grown Pistachios - yummy!
A big, one pound sack of addicting Hoody's Salted & Roasted In The Shell Peanuts

and a cheerleader video for Newbie:

*CHOMPF* I don't think they'd notice if the chocolate wasn't included, would they? :uhh:

BTW, that is such a cool idea for a Valentine's gift for a guy!

I chose a commercial holiday that encourages people to buy cards and chocolate.

That wasn't always the case. Originally, it was a tribute to the God Lupercus. Teenage boys would draw the names of teenage girls in a lottery and the girl was his companion for a year (until the next year's celebration).

Catholics didn't like that celebration, so they sainted a bishop that had been executed 200 years earlier and started their own celebration with slightly different rules to replace the Lupercus celebration. Instead of sex for a year, the guys got to give a handwritten greeting of affection to the woman of their dreams.

Now it's evolved to store bought cards and chocolate in tacky boxes.

Although, I have to admit, if Valentine's Day traditions evolve to include beer gift packs, I might start to like Valentine's Day. Thanks, MIH!:!)

I'm extraterrestrial and was forced to vote for option one
(Althought,I know what it means.)

  • #53
i suggest an extra option to select from in the poll

"I'm single, never had a date, never celebrated valentines."

edit: "I'm single, never had a date, never celebrated valentines AND its not celebrated in this country among other holidays/occasions (halloween for instance)."

All right, I don't intend to cope with sarcasm too long.
The options of this poll have been carefully chosen, by a board of psychological experts and sociological statisticians.
If you cannot find something to vote for, there are two possibilities :
  • Think longer
  • Pick one randomely
  • Do not vote, take a walk it will cheer you up. Or have tea if you're british.
  • Erh... there is no fourth point. :uhh:
:tongue2:

They multiply everything by 2, in order to not get bored.

Wow! They gave everyone at work something for Valentine's Day. That's almost as cool as Christmas bonuses.

Except they gave us phone books for Valentine's Day. And to think, I had to get an unlisted number. Steve Martin even does better than me. :frown:

E-mail announcement said:
As a special Valentine's Day treat, we've received 20 phone books! They're up on the lobby if anyone wants one... not that we don't all have internet access and therefore have the ability to look up any phone number or address we'd like at the drop of a hat. However, the cover suggests that they're great for the car (but not while driving unless being used as a booster seat) or one's vacation home.

Of course, this means that I'll be enquiring after the location and availability of the vacation home of any who choose to retrieve one of these books. Just a warning.

So come and get 'em!

I wrote this in the snow, with my wife's and my initials above it. It's a bit rough, but she enjoyed it.

You know how hard it is to erase in snow?

It's not easy to write with a 6 foot broom handle while leaning over.
