Power, Torque of a wind turbine
I am a high school student designing a wind turbine using 3D modelling software. I want to test if the blade design will generate enough torque to maintain an angular velocity given a particular wind speed. I have come up with something, but I am not sure if it is correct. Please tell me if my steps are correct or if I should do anything different.
I want to simulation software, SolidWorks Flow Simulation, that will tell me the torque when the blade system is put through a particular wind speed, where the blades are already spinning at a particular angular velocity.
Using the formula Power = Torque * Angular Velocity and Power = 0.5ADv^3,
So Torque * Angular Velocity = 0.5ADv^3
Do I isolate for torque to find the torque required and compare to the value generated by the simulation software to see whether or not the blades will keep spinning?
