Easy Ratio Vector Question, but not sure if answer is wrong

In summary, a ratio vector is a mathematical representation of the relative proportions or amounts of two or more variables. It is calculated by dividing each element in a vector by the sum of all the elements in the vector, resulting in a set of proportions that add up to 1. An easy ratio vector question typically involves a simple calculation or comparison of two or more ratio vectors, and incorrect answers may be due to mistakes in calculation or misinterpretation of information. The best way to check if the answer is correct is to re-calculate the ratio vector using the given information or verifying with a calculator or colleague.

Homework Statement

Let A, B be points in R3 with position vectors

a:(7,-2,3)
b:(1,-5,0)

Let Q be the point on AB such that AQ= 2/3 AB
Find q, the position vector of Q

Homework Equations

The back of the book says the answer is: (2,-3,-1)

The Attempt at a Solution

First, I found the vector of AB: (-6,-3,-3)
So Q should be: a+(2/3)(AB)
ie: (7,-2,3)+(-4,-2,-2)
=(3,-4,1)
Which is different to the answer given by the book.
Did i do anything wrong?
Thanks

What you have done is right

1. What is a ratio vector?

A ratio vector is a mathematical representation of the relative proportions or amounts of two or more variables. It is typically expressed as a set of numbers or coordinates that show the relationship between the variables.

2. How is a ratio vector calculated?

A ratio vector is calculated by dividing each element in a vector by the sum of all the elements in the vector. This results in a set of proportions that add up to 1.

3. What does an easy ratio vector question entail?

An easy ratio vector question usually involves a simple calculation or comparison of two or more ratio vectors. It may also involve finding the missing element in a given vector or determining the relationship between two or more vectors.

4. What could be the reason for an incorrect answer in a ratio vector question?

An incorrect answer in a ratio vector question could be due to a mistake in the calculation or misinterpretation of the given information. It could also be caused by using the wrong formula or not following the correct order of operations.

5. What is the best way to check if the answer to a ratio vector question is correct?

The best way to check if the answer to a ratio vector question is correct is to re-calculate the ratio vector using the given information and compare it to the original answer. You can also use a calculator or verify the answer with a colleague or tutor.
