Homework Statement
The diagram (http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j282/missingyoub4urgone/Physicsyahoohelp.png) tracks the location of an object moving in a straight line along the x-axis. When is the object (a) farthest from the origin, (b) at rest for an instant, (c) in the midst of being at rest for a while, and (d) moving away from the origin?
(assume t=0 is the origin)
Homework Equations
velocity = displacement/time
The Attempt at a Solution
I thought it was farthest away at B(because that point is the greatest distance from the x-axis); at rest for an instant at B and D because its changing from positive slope to negative, thus has no velocity, at rest for a while E (the graph probably isn't quite accurate its supposed to be a straight horizontal line there), and moving away from the origin at A.
