Misfit vs Edge Dislocation

Referring to the following journal by R. Hao et. al., J. Cryst. Growth, 337, 81, (2011):
The misfit dislocations are observed as bright spots along the
interface in the [0001]GaN image (arrowed in Fig. 3(a)), though
they appear more clearly in the images taken at the [1-100]GaN
zone axis (Fig. 3(b)), as the single extra half plane or group of
half-planes can be observed most clearly in this orientation.
From this sentence, a misfit dislocation is implicitly defined as "a single extra half plane". It seems that this definition fits the description of edge dislocation found in most text books. Is this correct or am I confused?
