How high will a ball thrown with an initial speed of 80 ft/sec be at 3 seconds?

In summary, Displacement of motion refers to the change in position or location of an object or body in a specific direction. It can be measured by determining the distance between an object's initial position and its final position. The difference between displacement and distance is that distance is the total length traveled by an object, while displacement is the change in position of an object from its starting point to its ending point. Displacement can be negative if an object moves in the opposite direction of its initial position. Displacement is directly related to an object's velocity, as velocity is the rate of change of displacement over time.

Homework Statement

a ball is thrown upward with an initial speed of 80 ft/sec.

Homework Equations

how high is it at 3 seconds...?

The Attempt at a Solution

using the formula:h = Vo*t - 1/2 g*t2
where h as the height
Vo is the original velocity
g as the gravitational pull : 32ft/sec
and t as the time...

my attempt answer is 96 ft...

is this correct?

It is.

What is displacement of motion?

Displacement of motion refers to the change in position or location of an object or body in a specific direction.

How is displacement measured?

Displacement can be measured by determining the distance between an object's initial position and its final position.

What is the difference between displacement and distance?

Distance is the total length traveled by an object, while displacement is the change in position of an object from its starting point to its ending point.

Can displacement be negative?

Yes, displacement can be negative if an object moves in the opposite direction of its initial position.

What is the relationship between displacement and velocity?

Displacement is directly related to an object's velocity, as velocity is the rate of change of displacement over time.
