Spiked Math: Number Theory Exam




See if you can solve Question 3 without using the Intermediate Value Theorem.

Solve Q3 without using the "intermediate value theorem"? It wouldn't even occur to me to use the "intermediate value theorem"! It is immediately obvious that the only possible integer solutions to that equation are 2, -2, 4, -4, 8, -8, 16, and -16. And evaluating the polynomial for all of those shows they are not roots.

Now, I need to get started on Q4.
