In summary, the conversation discusses converting a figure into hours and calculating the time and day it would be based on the given figure. It is determined that 70.86 hours is equivalent to three days, 22 hours, 51 minutes, and 36 seconds. However, an arithmetic error is pointed out, leading to the correct answer of the time being 10:51:36 AM on Saturday.

converting a figure into hours! simple really

I got a figure of 70.86 which is calculation to 24 hours so its 70 hours something.
So if it was 12 pm on the tuesday plus the amount above, what time and day would it be?

24 divides into 70 two times with remainder 22: 70= 2(24)+ 22. 12 divides into 22 once with remainder 10: 22= 12+ 10. There are 60 minutes in an hour, so .86 hours is (.86)(60)= 51.6 minutes. There are 60 seconds in a minute so .6 minutes is (.6)(60)= 36 seconds.

70.86 hours is three days and 22 hours, 51 minutes, 36 seconds, so starting from noon, Tuesday, you add two days, to noon Thursday, then, since noon is already half a day, add one more day for the additional 12 hours, ending at 10:51:36 AM Friday.

(Silly arithmetic error corrected thanks to oay.)

Not quite.

Your first sentence is arithmetically incorrect, so you are out by a day. The time is correct, but it is actually on the Friday.

Ouch! For some reason, on that whole problem, I was thinking "75" rather than "70". I will edit my first post. Thanks.

Hi HoI,

If you're going to edit your post to correct it, it may be wise to correct all of it! eg...

1. How do you convert a figure into hours?

The process of converting a figure into hours involves dividing the figure by the number of units in an hour, typically 60 minutes. This will give you the number of hours in decimal form.

2. What is the formula for converting a figure into hours?

The formula for converting a figure into hours is: figure ÷ 60 = hours, where "figure" represents the number of units and "hours" is the result in decimal form.

3. Can you provide an example of converting a figure into hours?

For example, if we have a figure of 360 minutes, the conversion would be: 360 ÷ 60 = 6 hours. This means that 360 minutes is equal to 6 hours.

4. Is there a difference between converting a figure into hours and minutes?

Yes, there is a difference. Converting a figure into hours involves dividing the figure by 60, while converting a figure into minutes involves multiplying the figure by 60.

5. How do you convert a figure into hours and minutes?

To convert a figure into hours and minutes, you can use the same formula as converting to hours (figure ÷ 60 = hours), and then take the remaining decimal and multiply it by 60 to get the minutes. For example, 3.5 hours would be 3 hours and (0.5 x 60 = 30) 30 minutes.
