Compressor Work. HVAC.

A textbook I'm referring states that the work of compression (polytropic compression) from process 1-2 is

W = (n*R*(T2-T1))/(n-1)

However when I solve the equation using a simple P-V diagram, I get

W = (m*R*(T2-T1))/(n-1)

What I'm I missing? Please help.
