Right handed particles and SU(2)L gauge invariance

In summary, right handed particles are subatomic particles that have a spin direction parallel to their momentum and are also known as particles with positive helicity. SU(2)L gauge invariance is a mathematical principle that describes the symmetry of particle interactions and is a key component of the Standard Model of particle physics. It is necessary for the existence of right handed particles and ensures the consistency of the laws of physics. All particles in the Standard Model are affected by SU(2)L gauge invariance, including both left and right handed particles. Understanding these concepts is crucial for accurately describing the behavior of subatomic particles and advancing our understanding of the fundamental forces and interactions in the universe.

If only left handed fields couple in the weak force, and we can boost to a frame that changes left handed fields to right handed ones, how can that theory be relativistically invariant?

thanks for the help!

Left-handed refers to chirality, not helicity.

I read that chirality cannot be measured because it does not commute with H.
It seems strange to say that it is left only because it interacts.
Can you elaborate?

1. What are right handed particles?

Right handed particles are subatomic particles that have a spin direction that is parallel to their momentum. They are also known as particles with positive helicity.

2. What is SU(2)L gauge invariance?

SU(2)L gauge invariance is a mathematical principle that describes the symmetry of a particle's interactions with other particles. It is a key component of the Standard Model of particle physics.

3. How does SU(2)L gauge invariance relate to right handed particles?

SU(2)L gauge invariance is necessary for the existence of right handed particles in the Standard Model. It ensures that the interactions between particles are symmetric and that the laws of physics remain consistent.

4. Are all particles affected by SU(2)L gauge invariance?

Yes, all particles in the Standard Model are affected by SU(2)L gauge invariance. This includes both left handed and right handed particles.

5. What is the importance of understanding right handed particles and SU(2)L gauge invariance?

Understanding right handed particles and SU(2)L gauge invariance is crucial for accurately describing the behavior of subatomic particles. It also helps to further our understanding of the fundamental forces and interactions that govern the universe.
