Is it possible one dimensional plane?

In summary, a one dimensional plane, also known as a line, is a flat, straight object that extends infinitely in both directions. It is represented mathematically using a single coordinate axis and is unable to physically exist in our world. This differs from a two dimensional plane, which has two coordinate axes and has both length and width. Real-life examples of a one dimensional plane include objects such as a road, railway track, wire, and number line.

I have heard about two or above dimensional plane which we can express R2 or Rn. But I never heard about one-dimensional plane which we can express R.

Is it possible one dimensional plane?

Well, that's because we don't use the word "plane"! A one dimensional "plane" is a "line".

1. Is it possible to have a one dimensional plane?

Yes, it is possible to have a one dimensional plane. In mathematics, a one dimensional plane is known as a line. It is a flat, straight object that extends infinitely in both directions.

2. How is a one dimensional plane represented mathematically?

A one dimensional plane is represented mathematically using a single coordinate axis. This axis can be labeled as x or y, and the points on the line are identified by their distance from the origin (0).

3. Can objects exist in a one dimensional plane?

No, physical objects cannot exist in a one dimensional plane. Objects in our world have length, width, and depth, which require at least a two dimensional plane to represent. However, mathematical concepts and equations can exist in a one dimensional plane.

4. How is a one dimensional plane different from a two dimensional plane?

A one dimensional plane is different from a two dimensional plane in that it only has one coordinate axis, while a two dimensional plane has two coordinate axes (x and y). Additionally, a one dimensional plane only has length, while a two dimensional plane has both length and width.

5. What are some real-life examples of a one dimensional plane?

Some real-life examples of a one dimensional plane include a straight road, a railway track, a wire, and a number line. These objects can be represented by a single coordinate axis and have length but no width or depth.
