In summary, a 12-year-old autistic savant has claimed that Einstein's theory of relativity is false. However, without any published papers or further information on his supposed errors in the theory, it is impossible to make an assessment. Savant syndrome, a condition characterized by exceptional abilities in a specific area, is still not fully understood by psychologists and neuro-scientists. It is often associated with autism spectrum disorders like Aspergers. However, until the boy's work is published in a peer-reviewed journal, it cannot be discussed further.

Anyone got any more info on his actual claims, besides the bajillion "wow, savant kid" articles everywhere?

As that article makes no reference to what his understanding of the "errors" in relativity theory are, we don't know what to think, except that he probably doesn't understand it properly.

When he publishes papers in refereed relativity journals such as General Relativity and Gravitation then we will be able to make an assessment.

Here is an even greater example of an autistic savant.

Off-topic, but what exactly is "savant syndrome" and do psychologists and neuro-scientists know exactly what causes it and how it works? Why it is most dominant in people with autism spectrum disorders like Aspergers?

Until his work has passed peer review and appears published in a journal, it is impossible to tell. However, until that time, it is not a topic open for discussion here.

What is autism?

Autism is a neurological disorder that affects a person's ability to communicate, socialize, and interact with others. It is characterized by difficulties with communication, repetitive behaviors, and social challenges.

What is a savant?

A savant is a person who has an exceptional talent or ability in a specific area, despite having significant cognitive or developmental disabilities in other areas.

What is the theory of relativity?

The theory of relativity is a scientific theory developed by Albert Einstein that explains the relationship between space and time, and how they are affected by gravity.

How can a 12 year old claim to disprove a well-established theory?

While it is unusual for a 12 year old to make such a claim, it is not impossible. Some individuals with autism have exceptional abilities in certain areas, such as mathematics or physics. However, it is important to thoroughly examine and test their claims before accepting them as valid.

Has the theory of relativity been proven wrong by this 12 year old autistic savant?

No, the theory of relativity has been extensively tested and proven to be accurate. While individuals with exceptional abilities can contribute to scientific advancements, one person's claim is not enough to disprove a well-established theory.
