Beat of sound


Two waves of equal intensities "I" beat together, what is the maxima of the beat equal to ?
Is it 0 or infinity,or other answers......... I just couldn't get it

To get the best out of these forums, you should try to show your working - in this case, that would be your reasoning. eg. why would you think that the maxima of the beat could be zero or infinity?

To tackle this sort of problem, you need to go back to basics: what is meant by the beat" in this context?

What is the highest amplitude that two waves of intensity I could add up to?

(Infinity is certainly NOT the correct answer.)
