is this for a course?

The suggestion of using frequency analysis and monalphabetic subs tools means its probably a monoaphabetic substitution cipher. If you can identify the first few letters via the freq analysis then you might find they used a keyword to construct the cipher. As an example: dumbwaiter where d=a / u=b / m=c / b=d... followed by the remaining letters in order that aren't in dumbwaiter.

Yes. He says it is something we haven't done in class before and we have done monoalphabetic substitution ciphers before. Also, I already tried using a keyword but I'm just not getting the right keyword. I tried identifying the first few letters to form a word but no luck.

Do you have ideas on what the cipher may be? From frequency analysis you can get a feel for what you are dealing with. (e.g. a flatter frequency distribution may be a polyalphabetic substitution cipher.)

No. I do not know what the cipher may be but I'm thinking it may be closest to a monoalphabetic substitution cipher.
Also, some letters may repeat itself. I think that might be the trick.
Just to say it again: Spaces and punctuation have been removed

If you have done the frequency count, why not post the results of it? It seems that would increase the chances that somebody could help you out.
