If you're talking about gas mileage...

Fill your car up. Reset the trip odometer. Drive until you need gas again without putting any additional gas to top off the tank. Fill up again, noting how many gallons it takes to fill up. Write down the mileage on the trip odometer. Divide odometer's reading by gallons of gas to get Gas mileage

thanks for your help but I need a calculation to work it out. I am writing physics engine for a car game so I have all the engine details and its torque curve. I read that fule consumption has a direct relation with how much horse power the engine is producing.

With these engine details can I calculate its fuel consumption?

Any help would be great

Thanks
alex

1. How do I calculate fuel consumption for my car?

To calculate fuel consumption for your car, you will need to know the distance traveled and the amount of fuel used. Divide the distance traveled by the amount of fuel used to get the fuel consumption rate in miles per gallon (mpg) or liters per 100 kilometers (L/100km).

2. What factors can affect my car's fuel consumption?

Several factors can affect your car's fuel consumption, such as driving habits, vehicle type, road conditions, and weather. Aggressive acceleration and braking, carrying excess weight, and driving at high speeds can all increase fuel consumption.

3. How can I improve my car's fuel efficiency?

To improve your car's fuel efficiency, you can try driving at a steady speed, avoiding aggressive driving, and keeping your tires properly inflated. Regular maintenance and using the recommended grade of motor oil can also help improve fuel efficiency.

4. Does the type of fuel I use affect my car's fuel consumption?

Yes, the type of fuel you use can affect your car's fuel consumption. Premium fuel may have a higher octane rating, but it does not necessarily mean it will improve your car's fuel efficiency. Stick to the recommended fuel type for your vehicle to ensure optimal performance and fuel consumption.

5. How can I accurately track my car's fuel consumption?

To accurately track your car's fuel consumption, you can use a fuel tracking app or keep a logbook where you record the distance traveled and the amount of fuel used each time you fill up your tank. This will give you a better understanding of your car's fuel consumption and help identify any changes or issues that may arise.
