Today Israeli soliders murdered in cold blood an American Professor and his son. I am sure if this Professor is not from Palestinian origin, the American media and politician will react strongly, especially if the criminals are link to Arab or Islam.

Condemnation of the Killing of Prof. Khalid Salah


An-Najah National University condemns the killing of its instructor the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Khalid Salah, 50 years old and his son Muhammad this early morning the 6th July 2004.

Prof. Khalid Salah was killed in cold blood by the Israeli Occupation Forces in his flat with his family and His son, Muhammad, sixteen-years old, was also killed. Both were left bleeding for four hours until they died. Medical teams were not allowed to offer its urgent first aid to them.

Prof. Khalid Salah was born in 1950, he started work at the university in 1979.

He received his MBA in Electronic Engineering from Wales in the United Kingdom in 1980. He was awarded his PhD in the Electrical Engineering from California University (Davis) in 1985.

An-Najah National University appeals to the international community’s associations, local and international human rights as well as the academic institutions all over the world to put pressure on the Israeli government to stop such aggressions against Palestinian citizens.

Four Palestinians and an Israeli army officer have been killed in exchanges of fire around the Ain Bait Ilma refugee camp in the northern West Bank town of Nablus, Israeli and Palestinian security sources said.



The shooting occurred early on Tuesday during an attack by an elite wing of the Israeli occupation army on the camp. Three soldiers were wounded, one seriously, in the ensuing firefight.



Two of the four Palestinians were resistance fighters while the others were civilians, Palestinian security and hospital sources said.



The fighters fought from a building that was encircled by Israeli soldiers who opened fire, while a helicopter gunship fired two missiles at it, Palestinian security sources said.

One of the fighters was Yamin Faraj, 27, the local head of the Abu Ali Mustafa Brigades, military wing of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP). He was killed along with Amjad Aram, one of his lieutenants.



The other dead Palestinians were named as 52-year-old doctor Khalid Salah and his 15-year-old son Muhammad.



The latest deaths brought to 4159 the number of people killed since the start of the al-Aqsa Intifada in September 2000, including 3162 Palestinians and 925 Israelis.

It is with great sadness and outrage that we learn of the brutal murder of Prof. Khalid Salah and his son at the hands of Israeli soldiers. This senseless act of violence is not only a tragedy for the Salah family, but for the entire academic community. We extend our deepest condolences to the Salah family and the An-Najah National University community during this difficult time.

We also condemn the lack of response from the American media and politicians regarding this heinous crime. It is a reflection of the double standards and bias that exist in the coverage of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. If the victims were not of Palestinian origin, we are certain that there would be widespread outrage and demands for justice. This must change.

We call on the international community to take immediate action to hold the Israeli government accountable for its continuous human rights violations and to put an end to the cycle of violence against innocent civilians. We urge all academic institutions and associations to join us in condemning this act and demanding justice for Prof. Khalid Salah and his son. We must stand together in solidarity and demand an end to the senseless killings of Palestinians.
