Proving Pluto's Orbit Inside Neptune's - Maths Investigation

In summary, scientists have determined that Pluto's orbit is inside Neptune's by analyzing data collected over time. This investigation utilized various mathematical techniques such as geometry, trigonometry, and calculus. Additionally, evidence from other celestial bodies in the solar system, such as Jupiter's moons, supports this conclusion. This investigation contributes to our understanding of the solar system by providing insights into its formation and evolution. It could also have implications for our understanding of the history and future of the solar system and could lead to further research and discoveries.

Hi guys

Im currently investigating planetary orbits in maths and one of our problems is to prove that Pluto spends a good deal of its time inside the orbit of Neptune.

If anyone could help that would be great.

Thanks

Kyle

Pluto has highly epliptical orbit so somtimes it crosses into Neptunes orbit while Neptune goes outside of it's Pluto's orbit.
I'am not sure if that answers your question.

1. How do we know that Pluto's orbit is inside Neptune's?

Scientists have observed the positions of Pluto and Neptune over a long period of time and collected data on their orbits. By analyzing this data, they have determined that Pluto's orbit is indeed inside Neptune's.

2. What mathematical techniques are used in this investigation?

This investigation utilizes a variety of mathematical techniques, including geometry, trigonometry, and calculus. These are used to analyze the data and make calculations and predictions about the orbits of Pluto and Neptune.

3. What evidence supports the conclusion that Pluto's orbit is inside Neptune's?

In addition to the data collected on the positions of Pluto and Neptune, there is also evidence from other celestial bodies in the solar system. For example, the orbits of Jupiter's moons provide further support for the conclusion that Pluto's orbit is inside Neptune's.

4. How does this investigation contribute to our understanding of the solar system?

This investigation helps us better understand the dynamics and interactions of celestial bodies in our solar system. By studying the orbits of Pluto and Neptune, we can gain insights into the formation and evolution of our solar system.

5. What are the potential implications of this investigation?

The results of this investigation could have implications for our understanding of the history and future of our solar system. It could also lead to further research and discoveries about the dynamics and behavior of celestial bodies in our solar system.
