Florida Governor Provides Form Letters to Praise Him

Pretty amusing:

Trying to counter some of the worst approval ratings in Florida history, Gov. Rick Scott’s campaign has taken to writing letters praising him for his supporters to send to newspaper editors.

On his campaign website, Scott has a pre-written letter that can be sent to newspapers to celebrate his work as governor.

“While politicians usually disappoint us and rarely keep their promises, Rick is refreshing because he’s keeping his word,” the letter states...

This isn't out of the ordinary. PETA and Greenpeace do it all the time, esspecially when they have a major negative incident. There was a form letter that Rep. Pelosi's campaign used a few years ago, it kind of worked like a mad lib in a way, and two individuals submitted (and got published) nearly the same letter to a localish paper. (of course, that got limited national headlines)

It may not be unprecedented, but criticism of it wouldn't be for its novelty.

I find this behavior concerning and unethical. It is important for leaders to have genuine support from their constituents, not manufactured support through pre-written letters. This type of action undermines the integrity of the political process and hinders the ability for true progress to be made. Additionally, it raises questions about the validity of the governor's approval ratings if they are being artificially inflated. I urge Governor Scott to focus on genuine actions and policies that benefit the people of Florida, rather than resorting to tactics that manipulate public perception.
