As part of my studies in college I've been given a project to design a crane which can lift 10 tonnes 20m in less then 60 seconds and I've done a lot of the calculations for the motors etc.
However I was just wondering if anyone could advise me would it be possible to do this without using truss supports for the frame and just having a solid tower the whole way up?
Also would ye feel it makes a difference to have a cab for the operator at the top of the crane or if it would be ok for him to operate from the bottom?
Thanks.
