In summary, future biographies will likely have more access to electronic data, such as social media posts, which can provide a more comprehensive and humanized portrayal of the subject. This can either enhance or detract from their image, depending on the content of their online presence.

How will future biographies differ from those past, given the proliferation of electronic data?

Do you mean, for example, if a PFer had a biography written about him years from now, and the biographer had access to all his posts, even the goofy ones in GD ? Then the biographer may know some https://www.physicsforums.com/showthread.php?t=217449".

To me, it would make him more human. Just think of Feynman's biography...it was all the stories of him being funny, irreverent, and light-hearted that made him so appealing to the masses.

Or, of course, it could be the case that his electronic trail shows clearly that he's just a jackass.

The proliferation of electronic data has indeed brought about a revolution in biographies. In the past, biographies were limited by the availability of written sources and the time-consuming process of conducting interviews and research. However, with the abundance of electronic data, future biographies will have access to a vast amount of information that was previously unavailable.

One significant difference that can be expected in future biographies is the level of detail and accuracy. With electronic data, biographers will have access to a wide range of sources, including social media, emails, and other forms of digital communication. This will allow for a more comprehensive understanding of the subject's life and experiences, leading to a more accurate and nuanced portrayal.

Additionally, the use of electronic data will also enable biographers to incorporate multimedia elements into their work. They can include videos, audio recordings, and photographs, providing a more immersive and engaging experience for readers. This will also allow for a more dynamic and interactive biography, rather than the traditional linear narrative.

Moreover, the use of electronic data will also allow for a more diverse range of subjects to be included in biographies. In the past, biographies were primarily focused on well-known figures and historical figures. However, with the abundance of electronic data, biographers can now explore the lives of ordinary people and their contributions to society.

However, with this revolution in biographies also comes the responsibility to handle electronic data ethically and responsibly. Biographers must ensure that the information they use is accurate and obtained with the subject's consent. They must also consider the privacy and confidentiality of the subject and their loved ones.

In conclusion, the proliferation of electronic data has brought about a significant revolution in biographies. Future biographies will be more detailed, accurate, and engaging, with a wider range of subjects and multimedia elements. However, it is crucial for biographers to handle electronic data ethically and responsibly to maintain the integrity and credibility of their work.
