Cars and other forms of transit

In summary, there are several resources available to find a book about transit systems and cars in the US and Europe. These include the US Department of Transportation, Federal Transit Administration, National Transit Database, Bureau of Transportation Statistics, and the European Union's Transport Homepage. These resources provide information on a variety of topics such as transit systems, cars, cost, roads, gas, and the environment.

I am looking for a book/s (yes I know this is the wrong section, but it will probably get more replies here :tongue2: ). I want a book/s that is a big overview of all the transit systems (US and Europe in particular) But I also want a huge emphasis on cars in the US. I do not want a book that was written by GM, or Chevron, if you catch my drift  . So mainly a book that argues about all of the problems with the US transit systems (with a big emphasis on cars: cost, roads, gas(oil), environment). And also to have a brief overview of transit systems and cars in other countries. Do such books exist? Do any of you have a recommendation/s? Thanks

Try the following resources, particular NTD and BTS in US:

US Department of Transportation (USDOT)
http://www.transportation.gov/

Federal Transit Administration (FTA), USDOT
http://www.fta.dot.gov/14512_ENG_HTML.htm
http://www.fta.dot.gov/transit_data_info/national_transit_db/1082_613_ENG_HTML.htm

National Transit Database (NTD), FTA, USDOT
http://www.ntdprogram.com/NTD/ntdhome.nsf/Docs/NTDPublications?OpenDocument#

Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) - USDOT
http://www.bts.gov/

For Europe try the European Union website - Transport Homepage

Happy hunting!
