In summary, a virus is a small infectious agent that replicates inside other organisms using their cellular machinery. There are approximately 10^31 viruses in the world, and they can be classified into categories based on their genetic material, size, shape, and method of replication. While they are often associated with causing diseases, some viruses can also have a beneficial role in nature. Viruses can spread through direct contact, ingestion, inhalation, insect bites, or contact with contaminated surfaces.

Or whatever the plural of virus is. If I could take all of them and fill a container, how big would the container be?

We don't know the names of all the viruses.Sometimes a virus is suddenly discovered and named. So there may be more viruses around that we have not yet discovered.
You may rephrase the question as:
"If I could take all the known viruses and fill a container,..."

What is a virus?

A virus is a small infectious agent that can only replicate inside the cells of other organisms. It contains genetic material and uses the host's cellular machinery to produce copies of itself.

How many viruses are there in the world?

It is estimated that there are approximately 10^31 viruses in the world. This number includes both known and unknown viruses.

What types of viruses are there?

Viruses can be classified into several categories based on their genetic material, size, shape, and method of replication. Common types include DNA viruses, RNA viruses, retroviruses, and bacteriophages.

Can viruses be beneficial?

While viruses are often associated with causing diseases, some viruses can also have a beneficial role in nature. For example, some viruses can infect and kill harmful bacteria, and others can transfer beneficial genes between organisms.

How do viruses spread?

Viruses can spread through various means, including direct contact with an infected person or animal, ingestion of contaminated food or water, and inhalation of viral particles. They can also be transmitted through insect bites or contact with contaminated surfaces.
