What are the integrated luminosity values for CMS at Cern?

In summary, the integrated luminosity of CMS experiment at CERN is approximately 20 fb-1 in 2012 at 8 TeV and approximately 4.5 fb-1 in 2011 at 7 TeV. The exact values may vary slightly between CMS and ATLAS due to uncertainties, but they are comparable.

Hi all,

I'd like to know what is the integrated luminosity of CMS exp. Cern ?

That's approximate, since CMS and ATLAS don't record exactly the same integrated luminosity. However, I am on the ATLAS project so I wouldn't even know how to find CMS's numbers

The simple answer is just: ~20 fb-1 in 2012 at 8 TeV and ~4.5 fb-1 in 2011 at 7 TeV.

Wow lol, all you do is replace Atlas with Cms! That's easy :P

Typing "CMS integrated luminosity" into google gives that page as first hit...

The luminosity values have uncertainties of a few percent, so the difference between ATLAS and CMS is within the uncertainties.

1. What is CMS integrated luminosity?

CMS integrated luminosity is a measure of the total number of proton-proton collisions that have occurred in the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) detector at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) over a period of time. It is typically expressed in units of inverse femtobarns (fb^-1).

2. How is CMS integrated luminosity measured?

CMS integrated luminosity is measured using specialized detectors within the CMS experiment. These detectors track the number of collisions that occur and record the resulting data.

3. Why is CMS integrated luminosity important?

CMS integrated luminosity is important because it provides a measure of the amount of data collected by the CMS detector. This data is crucial for studying rare physics processes and searching for new particles.

4. How does CMS integrated luminosity affect data analysis?

The higher the CMS integrated luminosity, the more data is available for analysis. This allows for more precise measurements and a better understanding of particle interactions.

5. What is the current CMS integrated luminosity at the LHC?

As of 2021, the current CMS integrated luminosity at the LHC is approximately 200 fb^-1. This number is expected to increase significantly in the coming years as the LHC continues to run and collect more data.
