Game theory: which two-player games solved analytically

In summary, game theory is a branch of mathematics and economics that studies decision-making in situations involving two or more individuals or groups. A two-player game is a type of game where there are only two players and each has a set of strategies. A game is considered solved analytically if a solution can be found using mathematical tools, such as game theory models. The most common approach to solving two-player games analytically is through Nash equilibrium and minimax models. Some examples of two-player games that have been solved analytically include the Prisoner's Dilemma, Rock-Paper-Scissors, and Tic-Tac-Toe.

I was wondering for which two-player/two-option games (symmetric, ...?) definite solutions for the best strategy can be found? (like a single equation for which probability for the choices to use)

You're right.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I want to consider abstract two option games with a 2x2 payoff matrix.

1. What is game theory?

Game theory is a branch of mathematics and economics that studies decision-making in situations where two or more individuals or groups are involved. It seeks to understand how rational individuals make decisions and how these decisions affect the outcome of a game or interaction.

2. What is a two-player game?

A two-player game is a type of game in which there are only two players involved and each player has a set of choices or strategies to choose from. The outcome of the game depends on the choices made by both players.

3. What does it mean for a game to be solved analytically?

A game is said to be solved analytically if a solution can be obtained using mathematical tools and techniques without the need for simulations or experiments. This means that the optimal strategies and outcomes of the game can be determined using mathematical reasoning and calculations.

4. How are two-player games solved analytically?

The most common approach to solving two-player games analytically is through the use of game theory models such as Nash equilibrium and minimax. These models involve analyzing the players' strategies and potential outcomes to determine the best course of action for each player.

5. What are some examples of two-player games that have been solved analytically?

Some examples of two-player games that have been solved analytically include the Prisoner's Dilemma, Rock-Paper-Scissors, and Tic-Tac-Toe. These games have well-defined rules and strategies, making them ideal for analytical solutions.
