How Many Birds Remain in the Tree After a Shot?

  • Thread starter godsaveme

In summary, the question is asking how to determine if a bird is dead or alive. There are two birds in a tree, and a hunter shoots one. There are now only one bird left in the tree, the dead one. If you're lucky, you will be right and you will be able to determine if the bird is dead or alive based on what the word "shot" means in the original question. If you're not lucky, you will be wrong and you will not be able to determine if the bird is dead or alive.

welcome to pf!

hi godsaveme! welcome to pf!

there are two birds in a tree, and a hunter shoots one

how many birds are there now in the tree, and are they dead or alive?

this is a common-sense question, not a maths question! …

what do you think the answer is?

To me, it sounds like he is trying to articulate this trick question I've heard here and there in the past.

The question comes in various forms but basically is, 20 birds are in a tree. A hunter shoots one, how many are left?

The answer is that only one is left, the dead one. The others have flown off at the sound of the gun shot.

When a bird is in the tree, how do you determine whether it is dead or alive?

That depends on what the word "shot" means in the original question.

You didn't say what the hunter shot. "The hunter shot one." One what? One giraffe? There are two birds in the tree as per your definition.

you can say, there are 0,1,2 birds in the tree
but when there is one bird in the tree ,you can not sure it is dead or alive.

you get three answers of this question,
but we get four answers, that means You have been misled by the figures

when there is one bird in the tree, how can you judge it is dead or alive?
You have a 50% probability of guessing right
If you're lucky,you will be right.Otherwise, you're wrong.

Is this science?

What does it mean to "first determine" something?

When we say "first determine," we are referring to the initial step in the scientific process of gathering information and making observations to form a hypothesis or conclusion.

Why is it important to first determine something?

First determining something is crucial in the scientific method because it allows us to establish a baseline for further investigation. By gathering initial information and making observations, we can better understand the problem or topic at hand and make more accurate conclusions.

What are the steps involved in first determining something?

The steps involved in first determining something may vary depending on the specific situation, but generally, they include identifying the problem, gathering information, making observations, and forming a hypothesis or conclusion.

How can we ensure the accuracy of our first determination?

To ensure the accuracy of our first determination, we must use reliable and valid sources of information, make detailed observations, and critically evaluate our hypothesis or conclusion before moving on to further steps in the scientific process.

Can we revisit our first determination?

Yes, it is possible to revisit our first determination. As we continue to gather more information and conduct further experiments, our initial determination may need to be revised or adjusted. This is a natural part of the scientific process and allows for a more thorough understanding of the topic at hand.
