What type of chemistry is this?

In summary, organic chemistry is the study of carbon-containing compounds while inorganic chemistry focuses on non-carbon containing compounds. Analytical chemistry is the study of matter composition and properties, while physical chemistry deals with the physical properties of matter and chemical reactions. Biochemistry combines biology and chemistry to understand the chemical processes in living organisms. Environmental chemistry studies the chemical processes in the environment and their impact on the environment.

The 2nd chapter in my spectroscopy course is titled quantum mechanics and at the end of it it goes on about particles in 1 dimensional boxes. What would I google to find info on this kinda thing? Quantum chemistry?

1. What is the difference between organic and inorganic chemistry?

Organic chemistry is the study of carbon-containing compounds, while inorganic chemistry is the study of non-carbon containing compounds. Organic chemistry focuses on the structure, properties, and reactions of molecules such as hydrocarbons, while inorganic chemistry deals with elements such as metals and non-metals.

2. What is analytical chemistry?

Analytical chemistry is the study of the composition and properties of matter, as well as the development of methods for measuring and identifying substances. This branch of chemistry is important in fields such as environmental science, forensics, and pharmaceuticals.

3. What is physical chemistry?

Physical chemistry is the branch of chemistry that deals with the study of the physical properties and behavior of matter, as well as the fundamental principles that govern chemical reactions and interactions. It combines principles of physics and chemistry to understand and explain the behavior of molecules at a molecular level.

4. What is biochemistry?

Biochemistry is the study of chemical processes and reactions that occur within living organisms. It combines principles of biology and chemistry to understand the structures and functions of biological molecules, such as proteins, carbohydrates, and nucleic acids.

5. What is environmental chemistry?

Environmental chemistry is the study of the chemical processes and reactions that occur in the environment, including air, water, and soil. It focuses on understanding the impact of human activities on the environment and developing solutions to environmental problems, such as pollution and climate change.
